Hatay Filter Industry Value Chain Analysis Workshop Was Organized In Cooperation With Ministry Of İndustry And Technology, Eastern Mediterranean Development Agency And İskenderun Chamber Of Commerce And ındustry.

In the scope of Value Chain Analysis studies that have been continuing about three months by a working group including Eastern Mediterranean Development Agency, Hatay Filter Industry Value Chain Analysis Workshop was organized in cooperation with İskenderun Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the coordination of Ministry of Industry and Technology.

In order to increase the competitiveness of the Filter Sector, which is one of the leading sectors of Hatay and to obtain the highest  value added from this sector, senior companies of the sector, İskenderun Technical University Vice Rector and Academicians, President of İskenderun Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives of relevant public institutions was attended the workshop aimed at identifying the requirements needed .

In his opening speech, Secretary General of DOĞAKA Onur YILDIZ said “DOĞAKA are taking part in these development efforts with you in meetings, whether feasibility studies or technical and financial support while carrying the sectors of our region to the future from today. We know that first filter production company of Turkey established in our region in 1966. Today, our region have produced 66 percent of the automotive filters produced in Turkey. If we think that 20 large and small companies in the sector take place in our region and provide employment for more than 2 thousand people, we better understand the importance of being together with our Filter representatives for the leap and development of the sector and for the solution of the problems. Thank you all for your participation.”

Afterwards, Development Specialist Aykut ANİÇ said “We are here today to conduct regional and sectoral studies. Our ultimate goal here is to identify competitive sectors in the region each year and to increase the value added of these sectors and to contribute to regional and national development. In such meetings, we convey the suggestions, requests and demands received from our sector representatives to our Ministry units and work to solve the problems in a short time. I would like to thank you and my colleagues in the Ministry of Industry and Technology and  Development Agencies.

President Levent Hakkı Yılmaz, who spoke on behalf of İTSO said “Emphasizing that the filter sector is one of the leading sector in the İskenderun economy, we have previously held meetings for our Filter Representatives together with DOĞAKA and the Governorship in our Chamber. Today, we are meeting with the representatives of filter sector which makes a significant contribution to employment in our region. Issues such as the sector problems and measures to be taken, actions to be taken and the incentives of the companies to be taken into consideration will be discussed here, demands will be presented and transferred to the most competent units in order to find solutions. Our manufacturers in the filter industry are our members and we have always supported our members. After that we will continue to support. Our region have produced about 70 percent of the automotive filters produced in Turkey. We see that importing filter materials from abroad, continuous movements of the parity increases the cost and put our companies into difficult situations. Our wish is to take concrete steps to solve these problems in the Filter Workshop held in our Chamber today and of course, I would like to thank DOĞAKA for organizing such a workshop.

After opening speeches DOĞAKA Sectoral Support and Programming Unit Specialist Ali KÜÇÜKLER made a presentation on the current structure and the classification of the filter sector and gave technical information about the sector. Afterwards, Central Anatolia Development Agency Specialist Mehmet Fatih Atilabey made a presentation about the global and domestic markets in the filter industry and informed the Filter Representatives.

Following the presentations, a roundtable session was held and SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) and PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, Environmental) analyzes were conducted with filter industry representatives and other participants to discuss the sector problems and solutions were taken
